Official Rules

Last updated August 24, 2026. These Official Rules govern the 2026 Wall Street Rivals Rival Cup. Participating constitutes acceptance of these Rules in full.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST. NO REAL MONEY IS INVESTED OR WAGERED.

The 2026 Wall Street Rivals Rival Cup (the "Rival Cup") is a free, skill-based simulated investing competition sponsored and administered by Wall Street Rivals LLC ("WSR" or the "Sponsor").

Participation requires no purchase, payment, deposit, subscription, donation, referral, or other thing of value. Paying or providing anything of value to WSR does not improve a participant's ability to enter, compete, advance, or win.

By participating, each participant agrees to these Official Rules. Each Team must also designate an Adult Team Representative as described below.

Use of the WSR platform is also subject to the WSR Terms of Use. If these Official Rules conflict with the Terms of Use specifically regarding operation of the Rival Cup, these Official Rules control.

1. Eligibility

The Rival Cup is open to individuals who:

  • are at least 16 years old;
  • are currently enrolled at a U.S. college or university;
  • are members of an officially recognized student club or organization at that institution; and
  • satisfy WSR's registration and verification requirements.

Any officially recognized student club may participate. It does not need to be an investing, finance, business, or academic club.

Multiple eligible clubs from the same college or university may participate.

A participant may represent only one Team during the Rival Cup.

Participants will ordinarily register using a valid .edu email address. WSR may accept other reasonable proof of current enrollment.

A participant who has not reached the age of majority where the participant resides may participate to the extent permitted by applicable law. WSR may require additional consent or authorization where reasonably necessary.

WSR may require reasonable documentation to verify eligibility.

Employees, officers, contractors, and other persons materially involved in developing or administering the Rival Cup, and their immediate family or household members, are not eligible.

2. Adult Team Representative

Each Team must designate a Team Representative who is at least 18 years old.

The Team Representative may be:

  • a participant;
  • a club officer;
  • a faculty or staff adviser; or
  • another adult authorized to act for the club.

The Team Representative is responsible for Team registration, club and roster certification, official communications with WSR, and prize administration.

The Team Representative does not need to trade and does not count toward Team scoring unless otherwise independently eligible and registered as a participant.

3. Teams and Rosters

Each participating student club is a "Team."

A Team must have at least two eligible student participants and may have no more than twelve at any time.

A club with more than twelve interested students may select its Rival Cup roster by any method the club chooses, including a club-run qualifier conducted on the WSR platform. Students who are not selected for the Rival Cup roster may continue to use WSR and compete in other WSR competitions.

Teams must register by the registration deadline stated in Section 4.

3.1 Initial Roster Period

Subject to the twelve-participant roster limit, eligible participants may be freely added to or removed from a registered Team through the end of Open Round Week 1, at the regular market close on October 9, 2026.

During the Initial Roster Period, a Team at the twelve-participant limit must remove a participant before adding another. Additions and removals made during the Initial Roster Period are not limited in number and do not count against the limits in Section 3.2.

A participant added after a scoring round has already begun may join the Team immediately but may first become Active beginning with the next scoring round. Partial-week Rival Cup scores are not calculated.

Accordingly, a participant who joins during Open Round Week 1 after that week's scoring round has begun may first become Active in Open Round Week 2.

3.2 Roster Moves After October 9

Beginning after the close of Open Round Week 1, each Team may make:

  • up to five additions; and
  • up to five removals

during the remainder of the 2026 Rival Cup.

The addition and removal limits are separate. A Team may therefore make as many as five additions and five removals.

All roster moves remain subject to the twelve-participant limit. A Team at the limit must remove a participant before adding another, and that removal counts as one of the Team's five permitted removals.

A roster change submitted after a scoring round has begun becomes effective beginning with the next scoring round.

No addition or removal may retroactively affect:

  • a scoring round already underway;
  • a completed Player Score;
  • a completed Team Score;
  • an Open Round Score; or
  • the result of a completed matchup.

3.3 Added Participants

A participant added after October 9:

  • must independently satisfy all eligibility requirements;
  • must complete any verification required by WSR;
  • may not have represented another Team during the 2026 Rival Cup; and
  • begins scoring with the fresh $1,000,000 simulated portfolio applicable to the participant's first scoring round.

A participant removed from a Team may not subsequently represent another Team during the 2026 Rival Cup.

If WSR permits a removed participant to rejoin the same Team, the re-addition counts as another of that Team's five permitted additions.

3.4 Removed and Inactive Participants

Removing a participant does not erase or recalculate any score recorded before the removal became effective.

A participant who simply stops trading does not need to be removed from the Team. A rostered participant who is not Active during a particular scoring round is excluded from that round's Team Score as provided in Section 7.

An inactive participant nevertheless continues to occupy a place on the roster for purposes of the twelve-participant limit.

A voluntary withdrawal that results in removal from the roster counts as one of the Team's permitted removals.

A removal made by WSR because of ineligibility, disqualification, fraud, misconduct, or other Rules enforcement does not count against the Team's five permitted removals.

4. Schedule

All competition dates and times are based on United States Eastern Time.

A scoring round begins at the regular U.S. securities-market open on its first trading day and ends at the regular market close on its final trading day. An official early market close constitutes the close for that trading day.

The anticipated schedule is:

PhaseDates
Team RegistrationSeptember 1 – October 2, 2026
Open Round — Week 1October 5 – 9, 2026
Initial Roster Period Ends / Limited Roster Moves BeginRegular market close, October 9, 2026
Open Round — Week 2October 12 – 16, 2026
Seeding and Bracket AnnouncementOctober 17 – 18, 2026
Round of 32, if applicableOctober 19 – 23, 2026
Round of 16, if applicableOctober 26 – 30, 2026
QuarterfinalsNovember 2 – 6, 2026
SemifinalsNovember 9 – 13, 2026
ChampionshipNovember 16 – 20, 2026
Champion crownedNovember 20, 2026

The applicable bracket begins at the round necessary to complete an 8-, 16-, or 32-Team field on the schedule above.

WSR may reasonably adjust the schedule because of market closures, technical failures, extraordinary events, or other circumstances affecting fair administration, subject to Sections 15 and 17.

5. Simulated Trading Only

The Rival Cup uses simulated portfolios only.

Participants:

  • deposit no money;
  • purchase no actual securities;
  • acquire no actual financial instrument;
  • wager no money or property;
  • pay no entry fee; and
  • risk nothing of monetary value based on competition performance.

Simulated balances, positions, profits, losses, returns, scores, and other game results have no monetary value and cannot be withdrawn, redeemed, transferred, or exchanged for actual securities or money.

Each scoring round begins with a fresh simulated portfolio of $1,000,000.

No portfolio balance or position carries from one scoring round to another. Open Round weekly Team Scores are nevertheless combined as provided in Section 7.

Nothing provided through the Rival Cup constitutes investment advice, brokerage services, investment-advisory services, or a recommendation to buy or sell an actual security.

6. Trading Rules

Unless WSR announces otherwise before an affected scoring round:

  • participants may trade U.S.-listed equities and equity ETFs;
  • long and short positions are permitted;
  • market, limit, and stop orders may be used where available;
  • trading occurs during regular U.S. market sessions;
  • leveraged products greater than 2x are prohibited;
  • money-market instruments are prohibited; and
  • uninvested simulated cash earns no interest or investment return.

A dollar of simulated cash remains a dollar of simulated cash until affected by an executed trade, distribution, corporate action, or other applicable portfolio adjustment.

Holding some or all of a portfolio in cash is a permitted competitive strategy.

6.1 Portfolio Concentration and Gross Exposure

There is no portfolio concentration limit: subject to the liquidity rules below, a participant may invest the entire portfolio in a single security.

Gross Exposure equals the sum of the absolute market values of all open long and short positions. Cash is excluded.

Total Gross Exposure may not exceed 200% of current portfolio equity at the time an order is entered.

An order that would cause Gross Exposure to exceed 200% of current portfolio equity is rejected.

If market movement subsequently causes Gross Exposure to exceed 200%, positions are not automatically liquidated.

While above the limit, only orders that reduce Gross Exposure may be accepted until Gross Exposure returns to 200% or less.

6.2 Liquidity

During any single trading day, the aggregate amount by which a participant opens or increases exposure to a particular security may not exceed 1% of that security's average daily dollar trading volume over the preceding 20 trading days, as determined using WSR market data.

Multiple orders involving the same security during the same trading day are aggregated for purposes of this limit.

For purposes of this rule, only the portion of an order that increases the participant's absolute exposure to the security counts toward the limit. An order, or portion of an order, that reduces Gross Exposure or closes an existing position is not subject to the 1% liquidity limit.

An execution will not occur using a quote that is more than 60 seconds old.

A security that is halted, suspended, or otherwise lacks a sufficiently current executable quote therefore cannot be traded until an eligible quote becomes available.

6.3 Market Orders

A market order entered during regular trading hours fills at the applicable market quote used by WSR at submission.

A market order entered outside regular trading hours queues until the next regular-session open and fills at the applicable opening price.

6.4 Limit Orders

A limit order entered outside regular trading hours remains pending. At the next open:

  • if the opening price satisfies the limit at a better price, the order fills at the opening price; or
  • if the opening price does not satisfy the limit, the order remains pending.

During continuous regular-session trading, a limit order fills when the applicable market quote touches or crosses the limit. Except for an opening gap as described above, the simulated fill occurs at the limit price.

An unfilled limit order remains pending until executed, cancelled, or the scoring round ends.

6.5 Stop Orders

A stop order becomes a market order when triggered during a regular trading session.

During continuous trading, a triggered stop fills at the applicable trigger price used by WSR.

If the market opens through the stop price, the stop triggers at the open and fills at the applicable opening price rather than the stop price.

6.6 Other Execution Assumptions

Simulated orders fill completely. WSR does not currently simulate partial fills.

There are no simulated:

  • commissions;
  • bid-ask spread charges;
  • slippage charges;
  • stock-borrow fees;
  • margin interest; or
  • other financing charges.

Cost basis is determined from the applicable simulated execution price.

7. Scoring

Rival Cup results are determined by applying the objective scoring methodology stated in these Official Rules to participants' simulated portfolio decisions and resulting market performance.

WSR does not use random drawings or other random winner-selection mechanisms to determine qualification, advancement, rankings, or prizes.

7.1 Portfolio Value

Each scoring round begins with:

V(0) = $1,000,000

For each trading day d, portfolio value is:

V(d) = cash + market value of long positions − market value of short liabilities

Realized gains and losses are reflected in cash. Unrealized gains and losses are reflected through the market value of open positions.

Positions are marked using the applicable official regular-session closing price for that trading day.

7.2 Daily Return

Daily return is:

r(d) = [V(d) − V(d−1)] / V(d−1)

Day 1 is measured against the $1,000,000 starting balance.

The number of trading days in a scoring round is N.

Every scheduled trading day in the scoring round counts toward N.

Halted or unpriced securities. If a held security does not have an official closing price on a particular trading day because of a halt, suspension, missing print, or similar circumstance, that security is valued using its most recent official closing price.

Every other security in the portfolio is valued normally.

The trading day remains included in N, and the portfolio's daily return is calculated normally.

When the affected security next receives an official closing price, any resulting price change is reflected in the portfolio return for that day.

If the security remains halted or unpriced through the end of a scoring round, its most recent reliable official closing price is used for final valuation, subject to WSR's authority under Section 15.

7.3 Total Return

Total Return is:

R = [V(N) − $1,000,000] / $1,000,000 × 100

R is expressed in percentage points.

Total Return is floored at −100 percentage points.

7.4 Downside Deviation

Downside Deviation is:

DD = √[ Σ ( min( r(d), 0 )² ) / N ] × 100
  • Only negative daily returns contribute to the numerator.
  • The denominator is the total number of trading days in the scoring round, rather than only losing days.
  • The minimum acceptable return is zero.
  • Downside Deviation is not annualized.
  • DD is expressed in percentage points.

If a participant has no losing trading day, DD = 0.

7.5 Player Score

A participant's Player Score is:

Player Score = R − (0.5 × DD)

Both R and DD are expressed in percentage points.

The Player Score measures absolute simulated performance rather than performance relative to a market benchmark.

Scores are calculated without intermediate rounding.

Displayed values may be rounded for readability, but ranking and tiebreak determinations use the underlying unrounded values.

7.6 Zero Equity

If a daily valuation would cause portfolio equity to reach or fall below zero:

  • portfolio equity is set to zero;
  • all open positions are treated as closed at the applicable closing valuation;
  • Total Return for the scoring round is −100;
  • the daily return for the day on which equity reaches zero reflects the decline to zero; and
  • daily returns for all remaining trading days in the scoring round are zero.

Downside Deviation remains part of the Player Score calculation.

A participant who reaches zero equity may therefore receive a Player Score below −100.

The participant remains Active if the participant otherwise satisfied the Active requirement.

7.7 Dividends and Corporate Actions

Ordinary cash dividends and ETF cash distributions are reflected once on the applicable ex-dividend date.

Based on positions held at the prior trading day's close:

  • a long position receives the applicable simulated distribution; and
  • a short position is charged the corresponding simulated distribution.

The distribution is reflected in portfolio value and therefore automatically affects Total Return and, where applicable, Downside Deviation.

WSR may implement the economic effect through appropriately adjusted market data, a simulated cash adjustment, or another economically equivalent method, but the same distribution will not be counted twice.

Routine stock splits and similar corporate actions are reflected through WSR's market-data adjustments or equivalent treatment.

Special distributions, mergers, acquisitions, delistings, erroneous market data, or unusual corporate actions may be addressed under Section 15.

7.8 Active Participants

A participant is "Active" for a scoring round if at least one trade is actually executed in that participant's Rival Cup account during that scoring round.

There is no minimum trade size, minimum investment level, or minimum exposure requirement for Active status.

Submitting an order that does not execute does not make a participant Active.

Once a participant becomes Active, the participant's complete Player Score for that scoring round counts toward the Team Score.

A participant may subsequently reduce exposure or hold some or all of the simulated portfolio in cash. Doing so does not cause the participant to cease being Active.

A rostered participant who has no executed trade during the scoring round is excluded entirely from that round's Team Score.

A Team must have at least two Active participants to receive an official Team Score for a scoring round.

7.9 Team Score

A Team's score for a scoring round is the unweighted arithmetic average of the Player Scores of all Active participants on that Team.

Each Active participant is weighted equally regardless of roster size, portfolio strategy, trade volume, or amount invested.

7.10 Open Round

The Open Round consists of two separate scoring rounds:

  • Week 1: October 5 – 9, 2026
  • Week 2: October 12 – 16, 2026

Each participant begins each Open Round week with a fresh simulated portfolio of $1,000,000.

No portfolio balance or position carries from Week 1 into Week 2.

Active status is determined separately for each week.

A Team must record an official Team Score in both Open Round weeks to be eligible for the championship bracket.

The Team's Open Round Score is:

Open Round Score = (Week 1 Team Score + Week 2 Team Score) / 2

The Open Round Score determines qualification and seeding.

7.11 Bracket Rounds

Each bracket matchup is a separate one-week head-to-head scoring round using fresh $1,000,000 simulated portfolios.

The Team with the higher official Team Score advances.

If one Team fails to record an official Team Score, that Team forfeits the matchup and its opponent advances.

If neither Team records an official Team Score, the higher-seeded Team advances.

8. Qualification, Seeding, and Bracket

The Open Round determines qualification and seeding.

The championship bracket is based on the number of Teams that record an official Team Score in both Open Round weeks and therefore receive an official Open Round Score.

Among such Teams:

  • 32 or more Teams: the top 32 advance;
  • 16–31 Teams: the top 16 advance;
  • 8–15 Teams: the top 8 advance.

This produces a complete 8-, 16-, or 32-Team single-elimination bracket.

If fewer than eight Teams record official Team Scores in both Open Round weeks, WSR may cancel, postpone, or reasonably modify the competition format.

Qualifying Teams are seeded according to their Open Round Scores, subject to the tiebreak procedures in Section 9.

9. Ties

9.1 Team Ties

A Team-score tie affecting qualification, seeding, advancement, or a Team prize is resolved in the following order:

  1. higher average raw portfolio return for the applicable scoring round or scoring rounds;
  2. lower average Downside Deviation;
  3. higher median Player Score among Active participants; and
  4. Team performance compared beginning with the final trading day of the applicable scoring period and working backward until a difference appears.

For a bracket matchup that remains tied after all foregoing comparisons, the higher-seeded Team advances.

For an Open Round qualification or seeding tie that remains exact after all foregoing comparisons:

  • the Team with the greater total number of Active participant-weeks across the two Open Round weeks ranks higher; and
  • if still tied, the Team that completed its initial Team registration earlier ranks higher.

No random drawing or other chance-based procedure is used to determine qualification, seeding, or advancement.

10. Continued Play and Individual Competition

Elimination from the championship bracket does not end participation in the Rival Cup.

Rostered participants may continue competing in weekly WSR scoring periods through the Championship using fresh simulated portfolios.

This includes participants whose Teams:

  • have been eliminated;
  • did not qualify for the championship bracket; or
  • do not have a scheduled bracket matchup during a particular competition week.

Such continued-play results do not affect the championship bracket unless the participant's Team is competing in a scheduled bracket matchup.

Continued performance may count toward:

  • the Best Individual Weekly Performance Award;
  • individual rankings;
  • Team and player statistics;
  • recognition; and
  • possible qualification, invitations, or seeding for future WSR competitions.

An eliminated Team cannot re-enter the 2026 championship bracket.

Roster additions and removals permitted under Section 3 may continue through the competition even after a Team has been eliminated, allowing eligible rostered participants to participate in continued individual competition.

11. Prizes

The total Rival Cup prize pool is $10,000:

AwardPrize
Champion Team$5,000
Runner-Up Team$2,500
Each losing Semifinalist Team$1,000
Best Individual Weekly Performance Award$500

The two losing Semifinalist Teams each receive $1,000.

11.1 Best Individual Weekly Performance Award

The Best Individual Weekly Performance Award is earned by the eligible participant who records the highest official Player Score during any single weekly Rival Cup scoring period.

Participants remain eligible for the award after Team elimination or failure to qualify for the championship bracket.

The participant must be Active during the applicable scoring period.

A tie for the award is resolved in the following order:

  1. higher raw portfolio return;
  2. lower Downside Deviation;
  3. daily portfolio performance compared beginning with the final trading day and working backward; and
  4. if still tied, the participant whose first executed trade in the applicable scoring period occurred earlier.

No random method is used to select the award recipient.

Although the award is earned based on an individual participant's performance, the $500 prize is not paid directly to the individual participant. It is paid to the participant's Team or another approved school-affiliated recipient under Section 12.

11.2 Prize Funding

The Rival Cup prize pool is a fixed prize pool supplied by WSR and/or a third-party sponsor.

The prize pool is not created, increased, or determined by participant payments, entry fees, deposits, subscriptions, wagers, simulated portfolio gains or losses, or the number of participants.

No payment or other thing of value is required to participate or to become eligible for a prize.

12. Prize Payment

No Rival Cup cash prize is paid directly to an individual student.

A winning Team, or the Team represented by the Best Individual Weekly Performance Award winner, must designate an acceptable recipient such as:

  • a university-administered student-organization account;
  • the applicable college or university;
  • a university foundation;
  • a registered nonprofit associated with the Team; or
  • another school-affiliated recipient approved by WSR.

WSR may require reasonable documentation, including applicable tax documentation, necessary to verify the recipient and process payment.

If a winning Team does not provide an acceptable verified recipient within a reasonable deadline established by WSR, WSR may withhold, forfeit, or redirect the prize as permitted by applicable law.

WSR makes no representation concerning the tax treatment of any prize.

13. Individual Rankings and Future Competition

WSR may maintain individual participant rankings during and after the Rival Cup.

WSR presently intends to conduct a future individual competition for Rival Cup participants, currently contemplated as a Spring 2027 National Invitational.

WSR may consider Rival Cup rankings, performance, participation, or activity when determining invitations, qualification, seeding, or recognition for a future competition.

WSR retains discretion over whether any future competition occurs and its format, timing, eligibility requirements, qualification criteria, awards, and official rules.

Participation in the Rival Cup does not guarantee entry into any future competition.

14. Fair Play

Participants and Teams must compete honestly and in good faith.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • creating or operating multiple participant accounts for the Rival Cup;
  • submitting false eligibility or roster information;
  • impersonating another participant;
  • unauthorized collusion or manipulation;
  • using external bots, scripts, scheduled-order generators, or automated systems to place, modify, or cancel orders;
  • intentionally exploiting software bugs or clearly erroneous market data;
  • interfering with WSR or another participant;
  • manipulating accounts, activity, roster status, or participation for the purpose of improperly affecting another participant's or Team's score; and
  • other conduct that materially compromises competitive integrity.

Legitimate roster management permitted by Section 3, including adding or removing participants for competitive reasons, does not by itself constitute prohibited manipulation.

Ordinary market, limit, stop, and other order functionality expressly provided by WSR is permitted.

WSR may investigate suspected misconduct.

Where reasonably necessary to preserve competitive integrity, WSR may:

  • cancel or correct a trade;
  • correct a score;
  • remove a participant;
  • disqualify a participant or Team;
  • declare a matchup forfeited;
  • forfeit a prize; or
  • take another reasonable corrective action.

15. Technical, Market, Data, and Other Disruptions

Technical, market, data, software, and operational problems may occur.

If an outage, erroneous market price, stale or missing data, market disruption, trading halt, corporate action, exchange problem, software error, cybersecurity incident, or other extraordinary event materially affects competition fairness or the intended operation of the Rival Cup, WSR may reasonably:

  • correct an erroneous transaction or score;
  • disregard or replace clearly erroneous data;
  • carry forward the last reliable price;
  • adjust the treatment of a corporate action;
  • extend, shorten, restart, or rescore an affected period;
  • pause trading;
  • correct an unintended software result; or
  • take another reasonable corrective action.

For a delisting, merger, acquisition, or similar event, WSR may close or value an affected simulated position using the last reliable official price, the consideration applicable to the transaction, or another reasonable value reflecting the event.

If circumstances beyond WSR's reasonable control make it impossible or impracticable to administer the Rival Cup substantially as intended, WSR may suspend, postpone, shorten, extend, modify, restart, or cancel an affected scoring round or the competition, in whole or in part, and may determine results or prize eligibility using a reasonable method designed to preserve competitive fairness.

Such circumstances may include:

  • significant market disruption;
  • exchange or market-data-provider failures;
  • widespread technical outages;
  • cybersecurity incidents;
  • legal or regulatory requirements;
  • natural disasters;
  • acts of government; or
  • other events materially affecting the fair operation of the Rival Cup.

WSR's objective in exercising its authority under this Section is to preserve or restore competitive fairness as nearly as reasonably practicable.

16. Participant Information, Rankings, and Publicity

WSR may collect and use participant information reasonably necessary to:

  • verify eligibility;
  • administer the Rival Cup;
  • communicate with participants;
  • calculate and publish results;
  • prevent misconduct;
  • provide support; and
  • operate and improve WSR.

WSR's handling of personal information is governed by its Privacy Policy.

WSR may publish competition-related information including:

  • usernames;
  • college or university;
  • Team or club;
  • scores;
  • rankings;
  • standings;
  • trading statistics; and
  • competition results.

For a participant under 18, WSR will not publicly identify the participant by real name or use the participant's photograph, likeness, voice, testimonial, or personal endorsement in promotional marketing without written consent from the participant's parent or legal guardian.

For all participants, WSR will not use a participant's photograph, likeness, voice, testimonial, or personal endorsement in paid advertising without separate consent.

Participation by a student club does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or approval of the Rival Cup by the applicable college or university.

17. Administration, Interpretation, and Rule Changes

WSR is responsible for administering and interpreting these Official Rules.

If these Official Rules contain an error, inconsistency, ambiguity, or omission, if the Rules conflict with an unintended software implementation, or if a circumstance arises that is not specifically addressed by these Rules, WSR may interpret, clarify, correct, or supplement the Rules in the manner WSR reasonably determines best reflects the intended operation of the Rival Cup and preserves competitive fairness.

WSR's reasonable, good-faith determinations concerning eligibility, rosters, scoring, trading rules, technical issues, enforcement, interpretation, and administration are final to the fullest extent permitted by law.

WSR may amend, clarify, or supplement these Rules when reasonably necessary to:

  • correct an error, inconsistency, ambiguity, or omission;
  • correct an unintended discrepancy between these Rules and operation of the WSR platform;
  • address an unforeseen technical, market, operational, legal, or other circumstance;
  • comply with applicable law; or
  • preserve competitive integrity or fairness.

Where reasonably practicable, WSR will apply a clarification or correction prospectively. WSR may apply a correction to an already affected scoring round where reasonably necessary to correct a material error or prevent an unfair or unintended result.

WSR will not materially change completed competition results or reduce an announced prize except where reasonably necessary because of:

  • fraud or misconduct;
  • ineligibility;
  • a material technical, market-data, software, scoring, or Rules error;
  • an event described in Section 15; or
  • circumstances beyond WSR's reasonable control.

Material changes will be communicated to affected participants or Teams.

18. Risk, Disclaimers, Release, and Limitation

The Rival Cup is a simulation.

Simulated performance may differ materially from actual investment results.

Participants should not make actual investment decisions based upon Rival Cup results, strategies, rankings, simulated trades, or simulated portfolio activity.

Participants acknowledge that market data, software, scoring systems, communications, and these Official Rules may occasionally contain an inadvertent error or may be affected by circumstances that could not reasonably have been anticipated when the Rival Cup began.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WSR's reasonable, good-faith exercise of the correction, interpretation, and administrative powers provided in Sections 15 and 17 does not create a right to damages or additional compensation beyond any prize properly payable under these Rules.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, participants accept the risk of ordinary technical, data, market, and operational disruptions inherent in an online simulated-market competition.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WSR is not responsible for losses or claims resulting from:

  • a participant's internet connection, device, or software;
  • third-party market-data, exchange, infrastructure, or service-provider interruptions;
  • delayed, stale, missing, or erroneous third-party data reasonably addressed by WSR;
  • technical or scoring errors reasonably corrected by WSR;
  • real-world investment decisions;
  • unauthorized participant conduct;
  • actions reasonably taken by WSR to enforce these Official Rules or preserve competitive fairness; or
  • circumstances outside WSR's reasonable control.

Nothing in these Rules excludes or limits liability that may not legally be excluded or limited.

The applicable liability limitations, releases, indemnification provisions, and dispute-resolution provisions contained in the WSR Terms of Use also apply to participation in the Rival Cup to the fullest extent permitted by law.

19. Governing Rules and Law

The Rival Cup is void where prohibited by law.

These Official Rules govern the Rival Cup.

If advertising, landing-page copy, email, social-media content, promotional materials, or another description of the Rival Cup conflicts with these Official Rules, these Official Rules control.

These Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Disputes relating to the Rival Cup are subject to the applicable dispute-resolution provisions of the WSR Terms of Use.

If any provision of these Rules is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions remain in effect.
