Terms of Use

Last updated August 23, 2026. These terms govern use of TheRivalCup.com and the Wall Street Rivals platform. Using either indicates agreement to them.

1. Who these terms are with

TheRivalCup.com and play.wallstreetrivals.com are operated by Wall Street Rivals LLC, a Colorado limited liability company ("Wall Street Rivals," "we," "us"). These terms form an agreement between Wall Street Rivals and each person who uses the service.

Entry into The Rival Cup is additionally governed by the Official Rules. Where the Official Rules and these terms conflict on a matter specific to the competition, the Official Rules control. Eligibility to hold an account, and the consent requirements in Section 2 below, are matters of platform access and are governed by these terms.

2. Eligibility and minors

An account may be created only by a person who is at least 16 years of age.

Entry into The Rival Cup is additionally limited to individuals who are currently enrolled at a U.S. college or university and who are members of an officially recognized student club or organization at that institution. Participants will ordinarily register using a valid institutional email address ending in .edu; Wall Street Rivals may accept other reasonable proof of current enrollment at its discretion.

Participants under 18

A person who is at least 16 but under 18 may create an account and participate only where a parent or legal guardian has reviewed these terms and authorized that person's participation.

By accepting these terms at registration, a person under 18 represents that such review and authorization has taken place. The parent or legal guardian giving that authorization accepts responsibility for the minor's use of the service.

Wall Street Rivals may require written confirmation of that authorization at any time. An account held by a person under 18 for which authorization is not confirmed on request may be suspended or closed, and any related competition entry may be voided.

All accounts

Each person creating an account must have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, or must have that capacity supplied by a consenting parent or legal guardian as described above.

An account may be suspended or closed, and an entry disqualified, where an age, consent, enrollment, or club-membership requirement is not met. Where a person under 16 has created an account, that account will be closed on discovery.

3. Accounts

Account credentials must be kept confidential and may not be shared. Each person may hold one account. Accounts may not be created by automated means, transferred, sold, or operated on behalf of another person.

Everything done through an account is the responsibility of the account holder and, for an account holder under 18, of the consenting parent or legal guardian. Suspected unauthorized access should be reported to hello@wallstreetrivals.com.

An account may be closed at any time by the account holder, or by the consenting parent or legal guardian of an account holder under 18. We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms, that is used to abuse or harm others, or where required by law.

4. Simulated trading

The platform simulates trading in publicly traded securities using virtual balances. Positions, orders, profits, and losses exist only within the simulation and have no value outside it. Virtual balances cannot be purchased, redeemed, transferred, or converted into anything of value.

Market data is provided by Alpaca and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Order fills within the simulation are modeled and will not match the fills a real order would receive. The simulation does not charge commissions, spreads, borrowing costs, or financing charges, and does not simulate partial fills. Nothing about simulated performance predicts or represents what would happen with real capital.

5. Not investment advice

Wall Street Rivals is not a broker-dealer, an investment adviser, or a financial institution. Nothing on the service — including scores, rankings, strategy commentary, educational material, news, community posts, or anything generated by other participants — is investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any security.

Anyone making real investment decisions should consult a licensed professional. Decisions made in reliance on anything found on this service are made at that person's own risk.

6. Acceptable use

The following are prohibited:

• Creating or operating more than one account, or creating accounts for others
• Coordinating between accounts or clubs to manipulate scores, standings, or bracket outcomes
• Exploiting bugs, data errors, or unintended platform behavior instead of reporting them
• Automated access, scraping, or use of bots, scripts, or scheduled-order generators to place, modify, or cancel trades or to gather data
• Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data
• Harassment, abuse, hate speech, threats, or sexual content in messages, community posts, usernames, or profile images
• Impersonating another person, a club, an institution, or Wall Street Rivals
• Posting content that infringes another party's rights or violates applicable law
• Using the service to promote or solicit for any commercial purpose without written permission

Suspected exploitation of a bug or scoring error should be reported to hello@wallstreetrivals.com. Reporting in good faith will not be penalized. Trading against a known error will be.

7. Participant content, results, and publicity

Messages, posts, usernames, profile images, club names, and anything else submitted to the service remain the property of whoever submitted them. By submitting content, a person grants Wall Street Rivals a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the service and the Cup.

Competition results are published as part of operating the service. Publicly — in announcements, marketing, the published standings, and the winners list — Wall Street Rivals identifies competitors by club or Team name and institution, together with Team scores, standings, brackets, and competition results. Wall Street Rivals does not publicly identify an individual participant by name.

Within the platform, a participant's chosen username, individual scores, rankings, and trading statistics are visible to other participants on leaderboards, brackets, and results pages as part of normal operation of the competition. Participants choose their own usernames and should not use a username they do not wish other participants to see.

A photograph, likeness, voice, testimonial, or personal endorsement will not be used in marketing or paid advertising without separate written consent, and in the case of a participant under 18, without written consent from that participant's parent or legal guardian.

Content that violates these terms may be removed at our discretion. We are not obligated to monitor content and are not responsible for content submitted by participants.

8. Our content

The service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, the Wall Street Rivals and Rival Cup names and marks, and the scoring methodology, is owned by Wall Street Rivals or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership.

Personal, non-commercial use of the service as intended is permitted. Copying, modifying, reverse engineering, redistributing, or creating derivative works from the service is not, except where that restriction is unenforceable by law.

School names, club names, and institutional marks referenced on the service belong to their respective owners. The Rival Cup is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any participating institution.

9. Availability and changes

The service is provided as it is and as it is available. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

During a competition, unplanned outages, data errors, and market data interruptions may affect scoring. How such events are handled during the Cup is addressed in the Official Rules.

10. Prizes

Prizes offered in connection with The Rival Cup are governed entirely by the Official Rules, including eligibility, how winners are determined, how prizes are paid, and any tax consequences. Nothing in these terms creates an entitlement to a prize.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability. No warranty is made that market data, scores, rankings, or results will be accurate, complete, or error-free.

12. Release

To the fullest extent permitted by law, each user releases and forever discharges Wall Street Rivals and its officers, members, employees, contractors, and agents from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses of every kind, whether known or unknown, arising out of or relating to use of the service, participation in The Rival Cup, or acceptance, receipt, use, or misuse of any prize.

This release includes claims arising from scoring determinations, rankings, advancement decisions, disqualifications, corrections made under the Official Rules, market-data errors, and technical interruptions.

Where a user is under 18, this release is given by that user and by the consenting parent or legal guardian on the user's behalf.

Nothing in this section releases liability that may not lawfully be released, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or personal injury caused by negligence.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wall Street Rivals and its officers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, lost data, or investment losses, arising out of or relating to use of the service.

Total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount paid to Wall Street Rivals in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred United States dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case the limitations above apply to the fullest extent permitted.

14. Indemnity

Each user agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Wall Street Rivals against claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from that user's violation of these terms, misuse of the service, or infringement of another party's rights. Where a user is under 18, this obligation is undertaken by the consenting parent or legal guardian.

15. Termination

These terms remain in effect while the service is used. Access may be terminated at any time for violation of these terms. Sections concerning content licenses, intellectual property, publicity, disclaimers, release, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute resolution survive termination.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict of law rules.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms, the service, or The Rival Cup will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Denver County, Colorado. Each user consents to the personal jurisdiction of those courts and waives any objection based on venue or forum.

Before filing any claim, each user agrees to contact hello@wallstreetrivals.com with a description of the dispute and to allow thirty days for informal resolution.

17. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. Material changes will be announced by email to registered users and noted by an updated date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect indicates acceptance. Changes will not be applied retroactively to a competition already underway except where required by law.

18. Miscellaneous

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Official Rules, are the entire agreement between the parties regarding the service.
